Basic information about the subject of the research/project

MyEdx Portal's Landing Page

The project involves an analysis using the College Intervention Program data, specifically focusing on pretest scores in Science, Math, and Values Education subjects. Based on this analysis, the team aims to design and develop The MyEdx Portal's landing page. This portal is the entry point for various features, providing role- based access control through username and password authentication. The MyEdx Portal comprises four core modules: Dashboard, Courses, Programs, Examinations, Profile, and Account. To support this portal, a hardware infrastructure is implemented with two server components: the Web Server and the Database Server, both operating on a Linux-based Operating System. The database plays a crucial role in managing platform functionalities. It stores course content such as modules, units, assessments, multimedia resources, and user data, including authentication credentials, roles, preferences, and progress. Additionally, the database facilitates precise monitoring of learner performance through enrollment tracking, progress monitoring, and activity logging. It also supports analytics and reporting, enhancing decision-making processes and refining course efficacy.

Issues that the project wishes to address

The project aims to address the competency levels of students who did not pass the entrance exam of CSU. By conducting a competency-based assessment, the team seeks to identify areas where students may be lacking and provide targeted interventions to improve their skills. Traditional education often requires students to repeat entire courses or subjects, even if they have mastered certain competencies. This project aims to address this inefficiency by allowing students to progress to the next level once they have mastered a competency, without the need to repeat material they already know.

Objectives of the research/project

In line with competency-based assessment, the project seeks to offer micro-credentials to students based on the competencies they have mastered. This approach provides students with tangible recognition for their skills and achievements, which can be valuable for academic and professional advancement. The design and development of The MyEdx Portal's landing page, along with its core modules, aim to provide a user-friendly platform for accessing educational resources, tracking progress, and managing competencies. This portal is a central hub for students, instructors, and administrators to interact and collaborate.
